Native title access fees for the Kimberley coast

Native title access fees for the Kimberley coast

|

Following recent negotiations, tourism operators within the Kimberley region have been advised guests will now be charged a fee to access native title determination areas and/or individual sites along the Kimberley coast. The fee not only allows access onto country, but will enable the Wunambal Gaambera people to manage their land and sea country for future generations.

Currently the native title access fees are open to future changes and subsequently the boats are unable to include these fees in current cruise pricings. Therefore, the Visitor Pass will be charged in addition to the cost of your cruise, in line with the Wunambal Gaambera schedule of rates at the time. An amended invoice including the Visitor Pass will be sent to you once it’s provided to us.

The fee is dependent on number of days in the region:

  • Guests cruising on the 9 Day cruise require a Gural Tranit Visitor Pass- $39 incl GST
  • Guests cruising on the 14 Day cruise require a Uunguu Coast pass- $105 incl GST

We anticipate this to be a short term solution while the Government works with industry to negotiate a Kimberley Tourism pass with the relevant Native Title groups.
