Media Release: True North announces Inaugural Kimberley photographic workshop

With photographer Christian Fletcher

North Star Cruises has launched the Kimberley Photographic Workshop with renowned photographer Christian Fletcher on board a True North cruise next year.

North Star has confirmed that Fletcher will join the Kimberley Wilderness Cruise departing Broome on 29 August, 2009, and provide guests with exclusive photographic advice and tutorials.

Fletcher said the Kimberley Photographic Workshop would be a great opportunity for anyone interested in photography to learn how to capture this vast landscape on camera.

“My love is the coastline of Australia, and especially the last untouched wilderness region of the Kimberley,” said Fletcher.

“Half the battle getting a great landscape photo is having a great landscape. The Kimberley coastline is world class, so the ability access and photograph this region is something to treasure and a once in a lifetime opportunity,” he said.

“Guests on this photographic adventure will learn the skills to take more than just holiday snaps.”
“The workshop is designed to pass on the knowledge I have obtained over my 18 year career.”

North Star’s General Manager Peter Trembath said guests would enjoy a one-off opportunity to work with a revered professional in photographing the ultimate panorama.

“This is a must do for anyone with an interest in photography and a love for the Kimberley landscape,” said Mr Trembath.

“Christian will provide instruction on how to capture the perfect image, as well as photographic software and printing techniques,” he said.

“The Kimberley Wilderness Cruise offers stunning material to work and guests will enjoy relaxed how-to instruction on everything from shot selection to the ultimate in presentation.”

Guests can embark in Broome and remain onboard for the entire 2 week cruise disembarking in Wyndham with a courtesy coach transfer to Kununurra.

Alternatively, guests can embark/disembark mid-cruise in the Hunter River taking advantage of light aircraft/helicopter transfers from/to Kununurra (included).
