WHERE DO YOU PICK UP FROM?
Kimberley Wild offers a complimentary pick up from all hotels and B&Bs in Broome. While we generally do not pick up from private residences, we can arrange an alternative pick up at key locations in town such as the Broome Visitor Centre, rental car depots or service stations.
Where can I store luggage whilst on tour?
Extra luggage can usually be stored at your hotel. In the event that this option is unavailable, Kimberley Wild can store your luggage at our depot until you return from your tour.
What are the luggage limitations?
We ask that luggage is kept to a managable amount (preferably a soft bag – 15 kg max.). You can bring along a day pack that you can use as well for additional luggage.
What camping gear is provided?
Kimberley Wild provides tents, swags (including 2 – 3 inch mattresses), bottom sheets, pillows and pillow cases. You can either bring your own sleeping bag or buy one from us at $25.00 per person. If you choose to buy one, you are welcome to take it home following your trip or alternatively, donate it to local communities. You can also hire a Jumbo Stretcher Bed – for $100pp. These are limited and subject to availability – enquire with our office for more details.
What size tents are supplied?
We can provide single / twin or triple share tents. These tents are very easy to erect – takes about 30 seconds!
Are there shower / toilet facilities every night?
All overnight campsites are well equipped with ablutions facilities – with flushing toilets
and hot showers. Our Private camp in the Bungles also has these facilities.
Do I need to bring my own water?
You will need to provide a large bottle for water – water tanks are fitted into our vehicles to refill your bottle during the trip.
Can we buy supplies along the way?
Depending which tour you are travelling on, there are a few stops where you can purchase snacks and basic necessities along the way. We do however recommend you stocking up on anything specific you will require prior to commencing tour as the range is limited.
How can I charge my camera during the tour?
Each truck has an inverter which can handle four batteries at a time. This will need to be shared amongst the group. We recommend you have your camera fully charged prior to departing.
Do I get mobile reception during the tour?
Mobile reception is extremely limited throughout the Kimberley.
Do I need a good level of fitness?
Most tours are wilderness camping adventures. There is a medium level of activity – walks and swimming – so you must be reasonably fit in order to participate fully.
Can I opt out of any activities if I want to?
Most activities can easily be skipped if you would prefer not to participate – usually you are able to relax under a tree near the vehicle until the group returns.
What walking shoes are appropriate?
We recommend you bring footwear that is going to be comfortable for walking over rough terrain and rocky ground. On tours that visit Tunnel Creek, it is necessary to bring a pair of shoes you don’t mind getting wet for walking through water – thongs are not recommended.
How far is the longest walk?
Depending on what tour you are on, the longest walk is generally 2-3 km, over rocky, undulating terrian. Some gorge descents can be steep and rocky, though they are generally short.
What size vehicle do we travel in?
We operate our tours in custom-built, 20 seat 4WD trucks. Our vehicles allow our small group tours extra space and comfort and are fully air-conditioned, fitted with media players, reclinable seats, map pockets, footrests and PA systems.
How long do we spend in the truck?
On all tours, we aim to ensure there is a break from driving and toilet stop at least every two hours. The Kimberley is a vast area so we are travelling some big distances but Kimberley Wild itineraries are designed to minimise the long stretches of driving and provide regular opportunities to stretch your legs and enjoy the environment!
Are the trips participatory?
It is important that travellers participate in setting up camp each night, though the guide can assist where necessary. Kimberley Wild guides also appreciate the assistance or one or two group members in preparing/clearing meals however this is not obligatory.
What happens if my tour doesn’t meet minimum numbers?
Though it is very rare, in the event of tour cancellation by Kimberley Wild due to not meeting minimum numbers, an alternative tour or full refund will be offered.
What happens if my tour is cancelled due to weather and road conditions?
Kimberley Wild reserves the right to cancel or postpone any tour due to unforeseen
circumstances. Circumstances such as road conditions, flooding, mechanical defect, cultural considerations or other reason. In the event of tour cancellation by Kimberley Wild, an alternative tour or full refund for that tour will be offered.
