FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is a double deluxe cabin or twin share standard cabin worth the extra price?
That’s a difficult question. Our passengers seem to be split 50/50 on the issue. It depends on you as the traveller. Do you want to know what the weather is like in the morning? Would you prefer a queen size bed? Want to see the water meeting the horizon outside your window? Don’t like small spaces? A double deluxe cabin is definitely for you. You may find the benefits often outweigh the small additional costs.
If you are on a budget and don’t mind having portholes for windows or being in a slightly smaller cabin, a standard cabin is just fine. The twin beds have comfortable innerspring mattresses and the cabin is very accommodating. Perhaps you’d rather save your money for more traveling or sight seeing back in Broome. Or perhaps you’re so active that you don’t plan on being in your cabin at all?
What amenities will my cabin have? Our 4 twin share single cabins and 6 deluxe double cabins are well equipped and private with 240v power, personalised air-conditioning, storage units and bar fridges. Our deluxe double cabins also feature a vanity, basin and built in desks.
How many passengers can fit in a cabin?
Generally, most cabins are designed for two passengers. There are four of the Twin Share Standard cabins that can take an extra passenger though we only book the cabins for two unless specified.
Are there group activities? Do I have to join?
On our expedition, you do what you want to. You can do everything. Or lie back and do absolutely nothing. It’s your holiday. For the shore based excursions we have a smaller vessel available to serve our needs from cruising up the rivers to just exploring a hidden bay. Our expedition leader will always ensure you have a safe trip. Ensure you have comfortable walking shoes together with wet reef shoes. A water bottle, hat and small day pack will make your excursions far more comfortable.
Whilst you are very welcome to enjoy the cruise from the vessel, a reasonable standard of health and fitness is preferred for the shore based expeditions. More will be gained from participating in shore-based expeditions. We will be isolated and at times exposed to the harsh beauty of the Kimberley. However the comfortable vessel and our experienced crew are there to ensure your safety and enjoyment.
Will I make new friends?
Our expedition is a great place to make new friends. Everyone is on holiday, and people are friendly, and you are all around the same age so you will have a lot in common. You are in a beautiful environment. The atmosphere is relaxed and you have the opportunity to make all sorts of friends from all over Australia.
What should I pack?
Comfortable, casual clothing such as shorts, with cotton tops are the best for day time, with jeans and a light jumper at night, when it can be quite cool. We recommend that you avoid nylon or synthetic clothing. Shirts with long sleeves will protect you from sunburn and light colours are cooler in the sun. Please bring sensible walking shoes that will survive being wet – joggers or walking boots are ideal for longer walks. Simple reef or wet suit shoes are also essential for shorter trips ashore. Bathers for swimming and a shady hat should be part of your outfit. Binoculars, Personal water bottle, Camera (with plenty of films and spare battery), and a small day backpack are recommended for the shore based expeditions. We can assist you with limited use of the vessels washing machine and dryer whilst on board.
Can family and friends contact me while onboard?
Yes, we can be reached via direct-dial satellite or fax. Please be aware that prices will be billed at applicable ship-to-shore rates.
Can I smoke onboard?
You can, though it must be outdoors, smoking is prohibited inside the vessel.
