In November 2016 Coral Discoverer will enter dry dock for a significant refurbishment which will see upgrades fitted to its passenger accommodations and dining facilities.

For the first time on any member of the Coral Expeditions fleet, six brand new Bridge Deck Balcony Staterooms will be installed (see artist’s rendition at the bottom of this page), providing guests in these cabins with a view similar to that of the ship’s Captain. At roughly 20 square metres in size, these cabins will offer either a double or twin bedding, sofa, writing desk, a wardrobe and ensuite. The new rooms will also offer a covered balcony, accessible via French doors.

All other staterooms will also see upgrades to bathrooms, decor, soft furnishings such as curtains and the room’s artwork.

Work will also be carried out to public areas including the dining room, deck lounge and sun deck, which will be designed in such a way to position it as the ship’s main social hub, where guests can congregate and discuss the day’s adventures over drinks. The sun deck itself will be converted into an undercover space, built around a circular bar and alfresco dining tables and chairs. The space will also feature cabana chairs for relaxing during the day and a space for outdoor exercise equipment.

The “Explorer” is a specially designed aluminium excursion vessel used for the majority of our excursions. This vessel has high horsepower engines and will accommodate all passengers at one time. The “Explorer” will be used for landings and for extensive exploration of rivers and tributaries. For your added convenience and comfort, the “Explorer” is equipped with an awning and toilet.

We also carry two inflatable landing craft (Zodiacs). Designed for expedition work, these large and heavy-duty inflatables are extremely safe. Separate air compartments retain a large reserve of buoyancy even if the boats damaged. The flat bottom design permits these crafts to land directly onto the beaches. Expect nonetheless to wade through shallow water to reach the shore.

The unique hydraulic platform at the stern allows absolute ease of access for all passengers embarking from the main deck.

The dining room serves all passengers in one sitting and features the finest in local products with an emphasis on the famous fresh seafood of our region. A comprehensive selection of Australian and New Zealand wines are available. Soft drinks are complimentary.

All meals during the cruise are included. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are usually served the Dining Room located on the Main Deck and are buffet-style. Coffee and tea is available 24 hours. Standard hours are breakfast from 7:00-8:30am, lunch at 12:30pm and dinner at 7:30pm however meal times may vary according to the day’s activities. Meal times will be advised in the onboard daily bulletins.
