broome RETURN ITINERARY

DAY 1: Broome – Cape Leveque

From the historic pearling settlement of Broome, a courtesy vehicle will pick you up from your accommodation at approximately 4.30pm and transfer you to the Kimberley Quest II for boarding at approximately 5.00pm. Begin your ‘Adventure Quest’ with a relaxing drink on the sundeck and watch as the sun dips below the western horizon as you cruise past world famous Cable Beach. Enjoy a sumptuous dinner as you cruise overnight towards the Buccaneer Archipelago. Your Kimberley adventure has begun!

DAY 2: Buccaneer Archipelago, Dugong Bay, Yampi Sound & Talbot Bay

This morning enjoy a scrumptious breakfast as you marvel at the spectacular surrounds of the Buccaneer Archipelago consisting of thousands of islands. Cool off with a refreshing swim in Dugong Bay followed by a scenic tender excursion. We then cruise towards Talbot Bay, home to one of the many pearling farms that frequent the Kimberley. The rich and protected waters provide ideal growing conditions for the coveted south sea pearl. Talbot Bay is also home to one of the icons of the Kimberley coast, the spectacular Horizontal Waterfalls. Board one of the tenders and head in for an up-close and exhilarating ride through this natural phenomenon. Enjoy a well deserved rest this evening and soak up the golden sunset, followed by more fine Kimberley cuisine as we cruise towards the Kingfisher Islands.

DAY 3: Montgomery Reef, Sale River & raft Point

Today we cruise to another Kimberley icon, the amazing Montgomery Reef.

A navigable channel, running deep into the eastern reef, provides stunning panorama of white water rapids on the ebb tide. Magical lagoons are created as the tide drops, which are rich in marine life, including dugongs, turtles, manta rays and many species of sea birds. As afternoon approaches we cruise towards one of the most beautiful and sublime estuaries, the Sale River.

Winding through rugged narrow gorges with towering sandstone cliffs, let our guides take you on an excursion to admire the cool surroundings or take a dip in the spring fed rainforest pools before returning to the vessel as we steam towards Raft Point to witness a historical Wanjana art site at Ngumburi Cave.

DAY 4: Doubtful BaY

This is another day packed with adventure as we cruise towards 3 Ways for estuary fishing and crabbing. Further exploration takes us to Ruby Falls, a picturesque freshwater swimming hole filled with water lilies and smooth water-worn rocks to sit on and take in the tranquil surrounds. Take in the beautiful scenery as we cruise through the whale breeding sanctuary of Camden Sound. Feast on juicy mud crabs and freshly caught fish from today’s catch, served with crisp greens and a chilled beverage!

DAY 5: Camden Harbour & Rothsway Water

For the fishing enthusiast – this morning we hunt! Join our knowledgeable guides as they take you to explore many snags and run-offs as you try your luck at landing the prized barramundi or peer at the rock bars in search for Kimberley oysters. We also visit Camden Harbour, scene of a 19th-century sheep farming fiasco by early Victorian settlers. In this rugged setting and harsh climate, the settlement failed miserably and was abandoned after less than two years and much tragedy. Mid afternoon we cruise towards Rothsay water to take a tender excursion exploring ancient Bradshaw and Wanjana art before cruising towards St George Basin under the deep azure Kimberley sky.

DAY 6: Prince Regent River, Cathedral falls & King Cascade

Known as the largest inland sea in the Kimberley, the Prince Regent River has been classified as one of the only two UNESCO World Biosphere Reserves in Western Australia. As we approach the iconic King Cascade waterfalls, take an excursion after lunch and marvel at the rush of water cascading in breathtaking tiers, surrounded by lush ferns and a myriad of wildlife. Climb above the falls for an unforgettable swim in the multitude of crystal-clear rock pools. You will then be rewarded with a breathtaking view over the magnificent Prince Regent River in the distance – wilderness adventuring at its best! As the sun starts to set take a scenic tender excursion to the spectacular Cathedral Falls before soaking up the last of the sun’s rays as you journey back towards the vessel as you revel this ancient paradise.

DAY 7: Camp Creek & Hanover bay

In the morning take a tender excursion to Camp Creek. Enjoy a walk to the base of the falls to beautiful paperbark-lined billabongs for yet another memorable swim or go bird watching. In the afternoon get your line wet in search for the prized barramundi or go crocodile spotting before we cruise to Hanover Bay which is home to pristine beaches, perfect for evening canapés as you take in the billions of stars from the Kimberley night skies.

DAY 8: Heywood & Champagny island

Spend the day exploring the spectacular crystal clear beaches of Heywood and Champagny Island. Walk on a deserted beach, take a refreshing swim or let our guides take you to our well kept ‘secret spots’ in search for the elusive Barramundi. As we continue our quest we cruise across to Adele Island, perfect for whale watching opportunities as you laze around the sun deck before enjoying a golden sunset, followed by more fine Kimberley cuisine.

DAY 9: adele island

We are now entering Adele Island, home to many sea birds, a perfect opportunity for nature viewing. Today is your last chance to catch a fish so try your luck for a large golden trevally, mackerel or queen fish. Alternatively you may swim at many secluded beaches – perfect for that last refreshing dip! The final leg of our journey takes us towards Cape Leveque as you savour your last evening enjoying sunset drinks and canapés whilst marvelling at the spectacular whales.

DAY 10: broome

Arrive into the Port of Broome at approximately 7.00am. Enjoy your last freshly cooked breakfast onboard; then wave goodbye to the crew of the “Kimberley Quest II”. Disembarkation is at approximately 8.00am, where a courtesy vehicle will transfer you to your accommodation or airport.

*This is only a suggested itinerary. Due to the vast tidal movements and remote terrain of the Kimberley region, Pearl Sea Coastal Cruises cannot guarantee that the itinerary will remain the same. However, during the time you spend with us you will experience many more spectacular places not listed on the itinerary. There will be plenty of opportunities to catch fresh fish for the table as well as land and sightseeing excursions to many untouched places.
